Class Information

   
  Oregon Trail -US History 6th-8th
   
  In this class, we will be exploring the Oregon Trail and how it relates to Westward Expansion, the Gold Rush, and other events of the times. We will learn about the treacherous journey pioneers were willing to undertake and why they would choose to go. This will be a unit study style class. Students should expect class discussions, writing and reading assignments, analyzing videos for a deeper understanding and other class activities. Homework is expected and will include chapter reading, videos, mini reports and creative projects. A book will be assigned at the beginning of the semester.

  Instructor Bio:
  Valerie has been homeschooling since 2010. She graduated her son, Luke, in 2021 and she continues to homeschool her daughter, Kendall. She has a life-long passion for all things creative and educating others. She is always inspired to use an eclectic and unconventional approach whenever possible to reach those needing a different style of learning. She is a licensed cosmetologist, loves the outdoors, spending time with her family, and taking on way too many DIY home renovating projects than she has time for.
